CHRIS MONETTE
FOUNDER - EYG HOOPS
Chris Monette is a highly accomplished basketball coach, trainer and former player with a remarkable track record both on and off the court. As a standout athlete at Cibola High School, Chris earned accolades as an All-City and All-State player, showcasing his talent and dedication to the sport. He continued to excel academically and athletically, at Lamar Junior College, earning the title of NJCAA Academic All-American.
Transitioning into coaching, Chris gained invaluable experience as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) under the guidance of legendary coaches Charlie Spoonhour and Lon Kruger. His journey then took him to New Mexico State, where he worked alongside renowned coach Reggie Theus, further honing his coaching skills.
Chris served as a coach at Garden City Community College before returning to the University of New Mexico as a part of the coaching staff under Steve Alford. During his tenure with the Lobos, Chris played a pivotal role in helping the team to back-to-back Mountain West Championships and achieving a school record for wins in a season (30-5) and most wins over a 4 year period. The team garnered national recognition, finishing the season ranked 8th in the AP poll and achieved post season play in consecutive years.
In 2011, Chris founded EYG Hoops, a program dedicated to training players of all ages and skill levels. His commitment to player development has seen him work with hundreds of athletes, many of whom have gone on to achieve great success, from making their school teams, all state selections and achieving college scholarships.
Notably, Chris has also coached 11 players who were drafted into the NBA and over 20 who have enjoyed professional careers overseas.
With a wealth of experience and a passion for the game, Chris Monette continues to inspire and develop the next generation of basketball talent.
